Suffer Club – Workout #49

Everything was wet, and so walking out the door at 10 to 6, it’s in your head that you’re going to get soaked and filthy at Suffer Club. There is something in the back of your head that resists it, but in the end, it feels pretty good to get down on the ground and roll around like the animal you are.

I tried something different with today’s workout. Instead of coming up with a format or structure, I just said, “Fuck it!” which is always very satisfying, and wrote out a pile of exercises. I told the Sufferers it was up to them how to break the pile up, how to manage the effort.

Everyone seemed to do well with this lack of structure, so I might try it more often, although, as always with Suffer Club, it’s the variety and unpredictability, that keeps it fresh. Maybe.

Here’s the pile:

  • 50 x Push Ups
  • 40 x Burpees
  • 40 x Leg Lifts
  • 100 x Russian Twists
  • 60 x Squats
  • 1/2 mile run (ours is up a hill and back)
  • 50 x Triceps Dips
  • 40 x Suspended Tucks (we use the playground swings)
  • 10 x Stairs (If you don’t have a good flight of stairs, do 40yd sprints)
  • 50 x Body Rows (or Lat Pulls)

Everyone cleared the board today, which tells me I need to add some more stuff next time, probably more abs, always more abs.
